Abstract

This paper presents experimental results for the rectangular and circular CFT columns additionally confined by carbon fiber sheets (CFRP) under axial loading that are currently used in practice. The main experimental parameters are the number of layers of CFRP and the depth-to-thickness ratio. 18 specimens were prepared according to the experimental parameter plans and axial compression tests were conducted. From the tests, the failure procedure, load-axial deformation curve, the maximum axial strength, and deformation capacity are compared with the currently used CFT columns and the confined CFT columns.
