Abstract

We report the fabrication of a highly nonlinear, polarization-maintaining, silica holey fiber with an effective area of ∼2.5μm2 at 1550nm. Nonlinear switching is demonstrated in a 3.3m long regenerative switch based on SPM with appropriate band pass filtering.
