Abstract

This work demonstrates an advanced method for highly selective concentration and sensitive label-free detection of protein aggregates, using a nanofluidic device with surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active substrate. In our previous work [1], we reported proof-of-concept results for a new type of nanofluidic device rapid prototyping using elastomeric collapse. Here, we present a practical application of this system by showing its ability to detect and characterize small amounts of protein aggregates, which are strongly implicated in several clinically and pathologically distinct diseases.
