Abstract
In this paper we construct a free energy, a kinetic relation and a nucleation criterion for a one-dimensional elastic polarizable solid capable of undergoing electrically induced polarization reversals. We study the hysteretic macroscopic response predicted at constant stress. It is shown that these predictions involving electric field-cycling at constant stress. It is shown that these predictions are reasonable and some of them are well compared with experimental results.
