Abstract

In this study the CVM which had been used in the environmental economics was applied to estimating the value of pedestrian environment improvement for the purpose of estimating the benefits of environmental materials. After finding the Willingness To Pay (WTP) of residents through this it is designed to attempt to quantitatively calculate the benefits by pedestrian environment improvement. For this in this study the survey targeting the inhabitants in Seongbuk-gu adjacent to the business area for pedestrian environment improvement was carried out considering form of payment, willingness to pay, etc. by establishing and showing the virtual scenario that a quiet and comfortable pedestrian environment would be formed. As a result of estimating the willingness to pay of the residents in Seongbuk-gu based on the survey the 627 won per month of surcharge for pedestrian environment improvement was shown to attempt to be paid when in pedestrian environment improvement. Besides when estimating the annual total benefits by pedestrian environment improvement it was estimated from 1,247,516,820 won to 286,305,110 won.
