Abstract

Use of an optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) receiver incorporating a holey fibre nonlinear thresholder was demonstrated. 2.5 ps pulses at 10 GHz were generated using a regeneratively mode locked erbium fibre ring laser operating at 1553 nm. Enhanced code recognition quality was achieved in a 255-chip, 320 Gchip/s superstructured fibre Bragg grating based OCDMA code:decode system.
