Abstract
A segmentation method to analyze the notch antenna arrays is presented. First, by segmenting the notch antenna arrays into baluns and tapered slot antenna (TSA) arrays, the active impedance or mutual coupling characteristics of TSA array can be investigated. Following this, with the active impedance, the 4th order Marchand balun can be readily designed using the closed-form expressions. As a design example, E-plane notch arrays are tested to show the validity of the proposed method.
