Abstract

In this paper, we propose an AODV-based routing mechanism that can provide seamless data delivery service from a streaming server to a vehicle on a highway where road side units (RSUs) are dispersedly placed and the coverage area of each RSU is limited. AODV is an on-demand routing protocol for MANET and does not suit well to this type of communication environment. Therefore, in this paper, we figure out the way to maintain an AODV route from RSUs to a moving vehicle with supporting the handover between two neighboring RSUs. For the performance evaluation of our proposed mechanism, we carried out the NS-3 based simulations. The effectiveness of our mechanism is shown by the simulation results such as improved packet delivery ratio.1
