Abstract

In this study, to estimate the behavior of a circular CFST column under eccentric loading, an experimental test and fiber element analysis on 11 circular stub CFST column specimens were conducted. The parameters of specimens were high strength steel (above Fy=450MPa) and concrete (fck=31.5MPa, 59 MPa), diameterthickness ratio (Dt=25, 40, 60, 80, 100) and eccentric distance (e=0D,0.167D,0.5D). The results from the experimental tests and fiber element analysis were compared with AISC (2005) [16], Eurocode 4 (1994) [18], and KBCS (2009) [17] to verify the suitability of the analysis in the codes. From the analysis results, it is considered that AISC [16], and KBCS [17] show good agreement for the circular CFST column under eccentric loading and that Eurocode 4 [18] overestimates the loadmoment relation of the circular CFST column under eccentric loading.
