Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a possible candidate for high-rate data transmission in wireline and wireless communications. However, OFDM systems are very sensitive to frequency offset due to Doppler shifts and carrier synchronization errors. This sensitivity causes the system performance to degrade drastically. Therefore, in this paper we propose a blind estimation based on a nonlinear Volterra adaptive filter to estimate and compensate the frequency off-set. The results show a significant performance improvement when using the scheme presented in this paper.
