Abstract

A micro-strip bandpass filter with a grounded shielding box has been fabricated, and the effect of shielding on the characteristics of the filter has been studied. The shielding box is shown to appreciably change the center frequency and the bandwidth of the filter, suggesting that the shielding effect has to be included in the initial design stage. Equivalent circuit modeling using the parameters obtained from three-dimensional field analyses can predict the characteristics of the shielded filter.
