Abstract

Steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) is a composite material that can improve the brittle material characteristic of concrete. In this study, shear tests were performed on a reinforced concrete (RC) beam and four SFRC beams with fiber volume fraction as a key test parameter, and the improvement of shear strength and deformation capacity of the SFRC member were evaluated with the comparison to the conventional RC member. The failure mode and the strain behaviors of longitudinal reinforcement in the specimens were also analyzed, and it was observed that the bond performance between reinforcement and adjacent concrete was improved with a higher volume fraction of steel fibers.
