Abstract
The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of a tin promoter on the acid characteristics of HY zeolite and catalytic performance during the hydro-upgrading of n-octadecane. When Sn was impregnated into the Pt/HY catalyst, the strong acid sites of Pt/HY became weaker and the number of acid sites was decreased. The relative number of Lewis acid sites to that of Brönsted acid sites increased with an increase in the amount of Sn added to the Pt/HY catalyst. The selectivity of jet fuel by the PtSn(1.0)/HY catalyst was highest because the addition of Sn attenuates cracking reactions and enhances isomerization, improving the selectivity of jet fuels and isomer selectivity during the n-octadecane hydro-upgrading reaction over Pt/HY.
