Abstract

The objective of this study was to estimate the air exchange rates to assess the ventilation status of small-sized multi-use facilities. Air exchange rates were calculated using multiple formulas applied to indoor CO2 concentrations obtained through on-site measurements at 27 multi-use facilities, and then were compared with various existing ventilation standards. The results revealed varying air exchange rates by season(2.33~5.60 h-1) and facility type(2.13~6.17 h-1), that were attributed to influencing factors such as indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, occupancy patterns, and ventilation operation conditions. Furthermore, approximately 40% of the facilities were evaluated as not satisfying the appropriate ventilation standards set by ASHRAE (2019), indicating the need for solutions to enhance ventilation, such as mechanical ventilation systems.
