Abstract

In order to improve the performance of floor impact sound insulation of existing apartment buildings (i.e., less than 150 mm thick slabs), the nine cases of floor system for renovation were suggested. Each layers of the floor and the ceiling except for the reinforced concrete slab as a main structure were redesigned. And the performances of the nine floor systems were measured in the field. The results shows that the reductions of single-number quantity between the nine new floor systems and the representative floor of existing apartment buildings are -1–9 dB(bang-machine) and 12-17 dB(rubber ball) in the heavyweight impact source, 28-39 dB(tapping-machine) in the lightweight impact source.
