Abstract

A new architecture for a flat panel three-dimensional holographic display is proposed. We developed a beam steering backlight, which is achieved by the integration of a beam deflector and a coherent backlight unit. In addition, a hologram processor is implemented as a single-chip FPGA. We built a flat prototype that is slim as 10cm thick. It shows high-resolution holographic images with an improved viewing angle.
