Abstract
Due to the increasing energy crisis, environmental awareness, and concerns, effective land-use for energy crop production and sustainable bioenergy utilisation has been proposed as one of the most important means to mitigate the anthropogenic impact. This chapter summarises the general information regarding forest biomass feedstock and key species and documents the method of characterization and exploitation of biomass resources.
