Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate the use of a gold-nanorods(GNRs)/Polyvinyl-alcohol(PVA) composite-deposited side-polished fiber as an saturable absorber for a high-energy, passively Q-switched erbium fiber laser. The single pulse energy of ∼2.57 μJ was obtained from a FBG-based Fabry-Pérot cavity.
