Abstract

This paper reviews the recent research progress on erbium ASE-seeded, depolarized, continuous-wave supercontinuum light source. It is shown that that such applications as wavelength division-multiplexed passive optical networks and optical coherence tomography can benefit from using the CW SC due to its ultra-wide bandwidth and high spectral power density.
