Abstract
The impact of nonlinear crosstalk on optical polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensation was discussed. The polarization state of each channel was found to be individually adjusted by using polarization controllers. The analysis suggested that the first-order PMD compensation degraded the performances of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems due to the OKE-DGD crosstalks.
