Abstract

Recent results on the tau lifetime and the leptonic branching ratios are summarized with special care on various lifetime measurement techniques developed in the LEP experiments. Their values are used for the test of the lepton universality hypothesis of the Standard Model. The electroweak couplings to the charged weak boson of the leptons are the same at 0.3% level.
