Abstract

The CIPP (cured in place pipe) is known as universal trenchless renovation method for old pipes. For prompt construction of CIPP, rapid and perfect curing is required. In general, heat curing by steam or hot water was applied to CIPP. In this paper, curing techniques of CIPP in Korea were compared between existing and a new introduced method. The new curing method proposed by SGT and University of Seoul (UOSIS) is a kind of hot water type using curing hose equipped with special spraying apparatus and mister. The structure of spraying apparatus is consisted of nozzle and screw. Once liner is inserted and inverted and then hot water is supplied through special spraying apparatus increasing energy efficiency. In addition, screw installed in apparatus increases spouting resulting in supplying more hot water. Moreover the water-drops become very minute like mist through mister on water hose. This misted water can reach to the top of pipe section, so it is possible to shorten the curing time compared to other methods and the liner can be cured perfectly including the upside of pipe. After curing, used hot water is reused as cooling water with water recycling system. So curing water can be saved. The new developed curing method, Screw-Mister showering system can save cost and environment.
