Abstract
An optimization algorithm called GACS, essentially a genetic algorithm (GA) coupled with the design sensitivity analysis, is proposed. The proposed algorithm, can overcome the drawbacks of both GA and design sensitivity analysis. GA takes up huge computing time, especially when applied with finite element analysis, while sensitivity analysis is unsuitable when the problem has multiple local minimums. The effectiveness of GACS is verified through simulations and experiments.
