Abstract

We experimentally and analytically compare the performance of directly-modulated, wavelength-locked Fabry-Perot laser diode and EAM-modulated spectrum-sliced ASE source for wavelength-division multiplexed passive optical network applications. The performance comparison is carried out in terms of intensity noise and dispersion at a data rate of 1.25 Gb/s over a conventional single-mode fiber links.
