Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate a self Q-switched Bismuth-doped germanosilicate fiber laser without using saturable absorbers. Self Q-switched, ∼1.8 μs pulses with a temporal width of is shown to be obtainable at a repetition rate of ∼65 kHz.
