Abstract

The Bismuth oxide-based erbium-doped fiber is characterized in terms of signal excited state absorption (ESA) by using a specially-devised, numerical-prediction technique. The longer-wavelength limit of amplification-band caused by signal ESA is estimated to be ∼1632nm.
