Abstract

A square annular-ring antenna with circular polarization (CP) for ultra-high-frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) reader is presented. The proposed annularring antenna is composed of square-shaped annular-ring radiator, which is fed by four equal amplitude signals with 90° phase difference, and reflector suspended below the radiator. The proposed antenna is matched and optimized using the 4-port antenna matching condition. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna of size 200 × 200 × 11 mm 3 has the peak gain of 7.0 dBic at 915 MHz, front-to-back ratio (F/B) of 30.0 dB, axial ratio under 1.5 dB.
