Abstract
In the conventional traffic assignment model, in order to have good mathematical properties, most link functions have strong assumptions; monotonically nondecreasing, continuous and differentiable. Such strong assumptions, however, have some limitations of representing realistic traffic conditions. This paper is to develop a stochastic traffic assignment model with a simulation-based link delay function. Travel delays of each link are calculated with a non-specific delay function, for which a simulation-based method is used for the realistic conditions. The model will also take into account of drivers' stochastic travel behavior. A solution algorithm will be developed and a numerical example is presented to assess the model.
