Abstract

Pyrolysis experiments of Quercus Acutissima sawdust in a bubbling fluidized bed pyrolyzer (0.076 m I.D. × 0.8 m high) were carried out to determine the effect of the temperature, U0/Umf, and aspect ratio (L/D) on the product yields and composition. This investigation also sought to identify various chemical compounds in bio oils. The yield of the bio-oil reached its maximum yield of 55.1 wt% as the bed temperature and U0/Umf ratio increased. At the maximum yield of bio-oil, the content of the pyrolytic gas reached their minimum value. The optimum conditions for collecting value-added chemicals such as guaiacols and syringols are bed temperature of 400 °C, U0/Umf ratio of 3.0 and L/D ratio of 2.0.
