Abstract

An optical limiting amplifier suitable for use in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks is demonstrated. It features synchronized etalon filter and an isolator within the erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). It is capable of achieving transmitter wavelength stabilization in a four-channel cold-start WDM system.
