Abstract

We demonstrate the use of an electroabsorption-modulator (EAM) for the generation of an ultra-wideband (UWB) doublet pulse. A doublet optical pulse is generated from the S-like transfer function, which is obtainable with multi-quantum well-based EAMs due to the existence of the exciton peak.
