Abstract

Error-free wavelength conversion of a 160 Gbit/s OTDM signal by use of a 1 m length of fabricated bismuth oxide-based nonlinear fibre as a nonlinear medium generating cross-phase modulation-induced nonlinear birefringence is demonstrated. Wavelength tuning over a 10 nm range is also achieved.
